Before joining DailyBurn, Miguel Villanueva was not only battling obesity, he was fighting for his life. During one fateful trip to the doctor, Miguel was diagnosed with leukemia.
“When you realize that you could die in 6 months, that’s when you realize what you were missing. DailyBurn is now my medication.”
Miguel has lost 28 lbs, but he’s gained something else: a new lease on life.
Read more of Miguel’s story in his own words:
Before DailyBurn, I used to eat lots of carbs, sweets, and fast food. I was a couch potato. I used to sleep only 4-5 hrs. I was always tired. I had lower back pain and I was stressed all the time.
My weight gain was kind of off and on, but I was consistently obese for the last 10 years. Because of my stress, I used to curve my anxiety by eating sweets.
I knew that it was time to change when I was diagnosed with leukemia. After a year of struggling with chemotherapy and succeeding with controlling the disease, I realized that I was still obese. I had moderate sleep apnea.
“I realized that I was killing myself while doctors were putting a lot of effort into saving my life. I decided to become an active participant in the efforts of saving my own life.”
When I first joined the DailyBurn program, I was curious and I was very tired after the first workout. I felt like quitting, but all the support shown by the DailyBurn trainers and community kept me motivated.
After I lost the first 5 lbs, I felt that I finally was on the right path.
The biggest challenge that I faced during the DailyBurn program was staying focused on my goals on a trip. I wanted to quit several times, but my desires to be healthier so I can enjoy my son inspired me to stay focused. The DailyBurn trainers helped me stay strong.
One of the bigest compliments that I have received since I have lost the weight is that I look great. One of my teammates even told me that I am her inspiration.
I’ve learned a lot about the Importance of mobility and recovery. Now I make it a priority to sleep well and to schedule my workouts daily. My health is the most important part of my day. I login to the DailyBurn website as much as I can, and I always, always remember that DailyBurn team cares about me.
If I could give any advice to people just starting their weight loss journey, it would be this: Do not give up! It is incredible to fit in the right clothes, it is incredible to wake up rested and full filed with energy and positive attitude. It is great to look at yourself in the mirror and feel that all the effort was absolutely worth it.
